Longford Town secured just their second league win in 2007 on Saturday night as they grabbed a late winner against UCD at Flancare Park in the Premier Division of the League of Ireland.
Despite going into the game thirteen points adrift at the bottom of the Premier Divison, Longford started well and Dessie Baker forced an early save from returning goalkeeper Darren Quigley.
Quigley again saved from Baker with half-time approaching - pushing away the attacker's low stinging drive at goal.
UCD weren't exactly outplayed but struggled to create much against the midlanders. Again Baker went close midway through the second half but glanced a header wide.
Baker again brought a save from Quigley before Alan McNally cleared Dave Mooney's shot off the UCD line.
Highlighting how strange his omission has been this season, B international Quigley pulled off another fantastic save to keep out a header from Damien Brennan as they game seemed set to end in a draw.
Derek Doyle went close for UCD in the closing minutes but narrowly fired over the Longford goal.
Longford grabbed a dramatic winner at the death though when Gary Deegan fired home a low drive from Robbie Martin's pull back to give the Town some hope that relegation may be avoided.
